John Lovitt, CEO

John has over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, and general management in the software development and deployment markets. Prior to joining Pattern Insight, he was a senior officer in Rational Software from 1990 to 2003, with roles including Senior VP Worldwide Field Operations, VP Americas Field Operation, and VP Worldwide Services and Support. He played a key role in shaping Rational's team-oriented approach to achieving customer results through improved software development capability. John joined Rational in 1986 as the first products were going to market and grew sales to over $700 million annually, building a field organization of over 1800 sales and technical professionals while integrating several key acquisitions. Before joining Rational, John was with Hewlett Packard for 13 years and McDonnell Douglas for five years.

John holds an M.S. in computer science from the Missouri University of Science and Technology at Rolla, and a B.S. in aeronautical engineering from Wichita State University. He is also active on advisory boards at WSU and UMR, and is past president of the MS&T Academy of Computer Science, in addition to serving on several corporate boards. He is active in Habitat for Humanity and has taught entrepreneurship at international summer camps in Eastern Europe and China.

Yuanyuan Zhou, President and CTO, Co-founder

Yuanyuan (YY) Zhou co-founded Pattern Insight in 2006. She is an associate professor in Computer Science at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she has led many years of pioneering research in system data mining, system reliability, and system management. In 2000, she was a co-founder of Emphora Inc. on storage systems. She has also worked at NEC Research Lab as a scientist, and StorageNetworks as a director of engineering. She was the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, Alfred Sloan Fellowship Award, IBM Faculty Award, Computer Research Association Anita Borg Career Award, Department of Energy Early Career Award. and UIUC Gear Faculty Award. Yuanyuan has published more than 70 research papers and holds several patents. She obtained her PhD and M.S. in computer science from Princeton University.

Spiros Xanthos, Vice President of Engineering, Co-founder

Before co-founding Pattern Insight, Spiros conducted research in systems mining and reliability as a member of the Opera research group at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that created the technology behind Pattern Insight. He has published several research papers in the areas of systems and software engineering. Spiros holds an M.S. in computer science from the University of Illinois where he has been pursuing a PhD. He has previously worked at Google. Spiros' interests include information mining from systems data, search engines, and large scale software systems development. He believes in agile methodologies and small, high-powered teams as a means of building software.

Qingbo Zhu, Principal Scientist and Vice President of Product Management, Co-founder

Qingbo Zhu co-founded the company in September 2006. He is responsible for all products in Pattern Insight from strategic product planning to execution through the entire product lifecycle. His passion lies in the intersection of innovative technology and business needs. He previously worked at National Laboratory of Novel Software Technology in China and IBM Almaden Research Center.

Qingbo obtained his Ph.D. in computer science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and M.S. and B.S. in computer science from Nanjing University, China. Qingbo has published pioneering research papers on system architecture in top computer science conferences and journals and holds several patents.
