EMC and Intel/Wind River Choose Pattern Insight

Mountain View, CA – September 28, 2011 – Pattern Insight™, a company dedicated to improving software quality and security, accelerated its sales momentum with the addition of EMC and Intel subsidiary, Wind River to its customer roster.  Each company selected Pattern Insight to ensure all future products would be free of bugs previously addressed in the development process.

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) offers the industry’s broadest set of hardware, software, and services that meet the world’s digital storage, backup, recovery and archiving needs, from individual consumers to the world’s largest data centers.

Wind River, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), is a world leader in embedded and mobile software. Wind River has been pioneering computing inside embedded devices since 1981, and its technology is found in more than 1 billion products.

“These two customer wins are awesome. Both companies are leaders in markets that demand flawless software. When companies like these call on us to make sure their software is defect-free and secure, it makes our day,” said Spiros Xanthos, Pattern Insight COO.

Fixes that become bugs are a significant and rapidly growing problem for software development organizations. Previously-fixed bugs often escape rigorous quality assurance processes and are missed by traditional static analysis tools. They also are especially difficult for customers to accept when discovered.

Developed at the University of Illinois, Pattern Insight’s advanced pattern search and discovery technology was tailored specifically to analyze source code, versus more common unstructured web data. It features:

  • Ultra-fast performance, with search returns on a billion lines of code in near-real time
  • Extremely high accuracy - <1% false positive rate
  • Fuzzy pattern matching capability that tolerates changes in variable names, function names, and statement insertions and deletions
  • Advanced proximity searches as well as all of the standard keyword-based routines

Customers, including Motorola, Cisco, and Qualcomm, rely on Pattern Insight’s proprietary products to ensure their software is of the highest quality and security attainable.
