Pattern Insight Hires Proven Code Quality Executives

07.18.2011

Pattern Insight™, a company dedicated to improving software quality and security, today announced the hiring of two new executives to lead sales and marketing efforts as well as a key promotion in its technical staff. Steven Correnti has been named Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Russ Wood was appointed Vice President of Marketing.  Chengdu Huang was elevated to Director of Engineering.

Steven Correnti has a 17-year record in sales management experience, consistently exceeding revenue goals. Previously, he has driven sales, business development and performance improvement, leading Coverity, SevenSpace, Quest Software and SoftBridge through remarkable growth and expansion to strong and sustainable financial results.

Russ Wood began his career in the communications agency business, working both as a creative and business executive for a number of firms in the Omnicom and Interpublic Group holding companies. He previously held marketing management roles at Bank of America, Siebel Systems and Coverity.

Chengdu Huang joined Pattern Insight in 2008 and has been leading the development of its flagship products ever since. Previously, he worked at Google on the cloud computing system infrastructure, and in HP Labs on machine-learning based autonomic computing algorithms. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“We are making these executive moves in light of our rapid expansion. It’s critical to add managers who can effectively guide us through this phase of explosive growth – all of us know this can be a difficult challenge”, said Spiros Xanthos, Pattern Insight COO.  “Chengdu’s promotion is recognition that we believe in growing our staff from the inside as well. He has truly made outstanding headway in advancing our core technology to meet our customer needs.”

Pattern Insight’s technology makes it possible for the first time to launch fully-automated queries across entire code bases to find every instance of a known, previously fixed bug. Previously fixed bugs are a significant and rapidly growing problem for software development organizations as they tend to escape rigorous quality assurance processes; are missed by traditional static analysis tools; and most importantly, are especially difficult for customers to accept when discovered.

Developed at the University of Illinois, Pattern Insight’s advanced pattern search and discovery technology was tailored specifically to analyze source code, versus more common unstructured web data. It features:

  • Ultra-fast performance, with search returns on BLOC in near-real time
  • Extremely high accuracy - within 99% confidence levels
  • Automatic bug pattern extraction, analysis and search
  • Fuzzy pattern matching capability that tolerates changes in variable names, function names, and statement insertions and deletions
  • Code snippet search without complicated regex expressions
  • Advanced proximity searches as well as all of the standard keyword-based routines

Customers, including Motorola, Cisco, and Qualcomm, utilize Pattern Insight’s proprietary products to ensure their software is of the highest quality and security attainable.
