Pattern Insight Announces Code Assurance 2.2

Mountain View, CA – September 8, 2011 – Pattern Insight™, a company dedicated to improving software quality and security, today announced the availability of the latest version of its flagship software solution, Pattern Insight Code Assurance (previously known as Patch Miner). Code Assurance 2.2 analyzes and searches source code to eliminate defects from new software releases. It takes as input any bug fix and automatically finds all of the other instances that have been propagated throughout the codebase in variants, branches and pieces of replicated code.

The 2.2 release adds seamless support for IBM Rational’s ClearCase source code management (SCM) system and Repo, a repository management tool built on top of Git, in addition to major SCM systems already supported.  Further, 2.2 will support LDAP based authentication and custom authentication via user-provided hooks, giving higher levels of flexibility and security for companies with these needs. Additionally, 2.2 boasts several usability and performance improvements.

Previously fixed bugs are a significant and rapidly growing problem for software development organizations as they tend to escape rigorous quality assurance processes; are missed by traditional static analysis tools; and most importantly, are especially difficult for customers to accept when discovered.

Developed at the University of Illinois, Pattern Insight’s advanced pattern search and discovery technology was tailored specifically to analyze source code, versus more common unstructured web data. It features:
